As we inch closer to the fall and football season towards a busy time I think it would be helpful to review my mission statement motto call it what you want “Sports betting as a business” I suggest you have a mission statement for yourself summarizing what you want your overall goal for sports betting.
From day 1 over 20 years ago even in the not successful times I approached sports betting from a business perspective; given that was my background. It did not matter what the size of my unit was it did not matter if I was part time or full time it was always about treating this as a business regardless of the profit or loss especially in the early years.
If you are looking for bells and whistles locks of the year ridiculous claims, thrill rides I am NOT for you. If you are an action junkie than I am NOT for you. If you are looking for honesty, integrity, transparency, accurate records, realistic expectations and practical betting advice you have come to the right place.
My goal is simple. I try and mine for value on a daily basis. When we find it we bet. I know with this approach despite short term ups and downs long term profits are generated. If we went 5-0 or 0-5 I approach the next day with the same philosophy and that is to find value on the given days card. In addition I provide betting tips, articles and fundamental principles of this business that WILL allow you to be successful long term in this business.
So what is your goal for this endeavor? For everyone that is different and personal. There is no right or wrong answer as long as you are realistic. It could range from just having fun, entertainment; lose less, to generate a full time income. There is NO wrong answer. The only wrong answer is to not have a clear goal or mission statement. Also realize as you progress learn more you are always able to revalue change your goals. In fact it is necessary.
I am what they refer to in the industry as a grinder. There is something to be said for someone that does not charge for picks and has a substantial long term consistent profitable track record. I welcome you to come along.
