Lessons in your losses

Every time I make a bet I want to win I expect to win otherwise why bet. However we know that is unrealistic EVERYONE goes through losing streaks sometimes extended ones so there is some solace knowing we all have to deal with it.

The question then becomes how do we deal with it and what can we learn turning a negative into a positive.

A top hitter in baseball fails 70% of the time. A top sports bettor is going to lose 45% of their bets in the long run. That means over the course of a year in simple terms if you are in play 300 days 135 of those days will be losing ones.

Having stated all this now none of this will be a surprise. Acceptance and realistic expectations is more than half the battle.

Personally I learn much more from a game I lost than when I won. I use that information to profit in the short term. I do not go on tilt I do not chase losses I store the knowledge to use to my benefit. So when you hear the phrase “you need to learn to lose before you learn to win” you will have a better understanding of the true meaning.

Refer back to the recent grapevine I sent you with the link of the Ted talk about managing risk. Sports betting is mentally demanding there is no getting around that. If it were so easy everyone would partake. The more challenging something is the more rewarding it becomes.

When wins are coming in, money is piling up you are invincible the world is great. The best bettors are the ones that stay consistent through the best of it and through the worst losing streaks you can imagine. Keep focused never take your eye off the goal of finding value.

I am human do bad beats and extended losing streaks bother me of course they do. I am very competitive. However after doing this for so many years I attack each new day level headed and ready to grind.
