There are many similarities handicapping Ncaaf and the Nfl as well there are many differences. Much like starting pitchers in baseball the QB in football whether pros or college can make or break your bets.

Betting baseball in September is a different animal than the rest of the year. Look for pitchers that have run out of gas. This usually coincides with the amount of innings they have pitched on the year and it also occurs at a number they have never crossed before. Conversely look for pitchers with fresh arms that have low innings pitched maybe due to injury.
Rosters are expanded giving the manager more flexibility with catchers, the bullpen, pinch running and hitting. You must keep an eye on the daily line ups and who has been added to the roster.

One of the most common and biggest problems many sports bettors have is called “chasing”. How many times do you lose an early game on the menu and then search to find a late game regardless of value to bet on to try and make up for your early loss. Not only do some bet on games they normally would not but they also increase their unit digging the hole even deeper.

Believe it or not 1 week from today the 2015 NFLX schedule gets underway with the hall of fame game. There is value to be had betting the NFLX . It is the only sport where we bet the pre-season games. In fact some years I make more money during the pre-season than the regular season.
A word of caution however. With sports books limits lower for pre-season games the lines move faster when money arrives. It is more important that when I Tweet about a new pick you jump on it right away before the line moves against you and the value is gone.

A common myth in handicapping is you should only play dogs and somehow if you bet a favorite you are a square. People value is value. If you handicapping a game and your line is -2.50 or -9.5 points and the lines at the book are -1.95 or -8.0 respectively guess what you have excellent value play them BOTH. Sometimes the obvious play is the best play. Take the money and move on.

We have had a very good first half to the 2015 betting year. MLB results are not where they usually are although far from horrible there is much schedule left so the story is far from over and we finished very strong.
The close of the baseball menu today will bring us to the all-star break. Monday July 13 up to and including Thursday July 16 there will be no games (at least the sports we bet on) no plays. I will be tweeting throughout this period like usual. I will be back updating the website on Friday July 17.

The business of sports betting is constantly changing and evolving. I began betting on sports when I was in my late teens. I remember my first bookie handing over my winnings of 2K cash and thought this was the easiest thing in the world and I can now retire. Just when you think you have things figured out you realize there is always more to learn. This obviously is a good thing. It keeps you sharp keeps you hungry for more. I HATE to lose EVER.
