MLB Betting Important Info for the Season Ahead 04/05/15 (more...)

Always always bet LISTED pitchers unless I specify differently in my game analysis. This will ensure that from the time we place our bet to the time the game goes off if something were to happen to either starting pitcher and he does not throw at least one pitch to start the game our bet will be refunded. The last issue I want is to risk money based on a pitching change that I did not handicap. However there will be times when we are on the dog that we will ONLY specify our pitcher in the remote chance the better pitcher we are betting against does not start.

Common Mistakes to Avoid 03/29/15 (more...)

1)Being undercapitalized. Do not be disillusioned to think you can make a full time living on a minimal bankroll.
2)Not having enough sports book accounts funded whereby you are not getting the best number available. Betting -1.20 when -1.14 is available is just burning money.
3)Not following proper money management procedures. There is no such thing as a lock in this business. Anything can and will happen on any given game or day. RISKING more than 2% of your bankroll on a game will guarantee you will not be around long term.

Ugly Dogs Uglier Favorites 03/22/15 (more...)

The later in a season the more relevance the above subject line has. When you have 2 very bad teams playing each other and one of them is spotting substantial points you have ONLY 2 choices. Pass the game or take the ugly dog.
NEVER spot substantial points with bad teams no matter who they are playing. First of all these teams have proven they do not know how to win let alone by a margin. Second an ugly dog has increased motivation when playing another bad team because this is a game they can actually compete in.

March Madness Handicapping 03/08/15 (more...)

Obviously filling out a bracket is a different beast than handicapping individual games of the tournament with point spreads. Next week’s grapevine I will help you with your bracket this week we will deal with the spreads.
1)Forget about the recently finished conference tournaments. March madness is a different beast. There is no carryover of momentum for teams that performed well in those tournaments. In fact some coaches could care less about those tournaments and focus on getting their teams ready for the big dance.

2 Months of 2015 in the Books Bring on March 03/01/15 (more...)

January 2015 was a profitable month slightly below are minimum targeted ROI of 5%. February 2015 was a fantastic month. Overall we ended up at 16-8 and have a long term streak going of 32-16. We generally will have 2-3 really great runs over the course of a year. Going back to 2014 12 out of the last 14 months we have turned a profit.
Remember you can never predict when these streaks will start or end. My mentality is always whether on a good or bad run regardless if I went 5-0 or 0-5 the previous day each day starts at 0-0. The rest is history learn from it and move on.

Additions for Your Handicapping Tool Chest 02/22/15 (more...)

* Be calculating be deliberately decisive after analyzing ALL the objective information of a match up.
* Never let outside influences personal problems affect your handicapping. This business is tough enough you must perform with a clear mind.
* Always adhere to proper money management procedures thereby being able to withstand the bumps and form reversal that is inevitable at times.
* Never fall in love with a player or a team. Be ruthless in your pursuit of winners.

Adapt to Succeed 02/15/15 (more...)

Handicapping is a constantly evolving process. Year by year season by season even game by game. Some people are under the impression handicapping is nothing more than a number crunching formula driven exercise which punches out plays. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the better team or better pitcher won and covered every game we would all be rich.
One of the biggest mistakes made in handicapping is to over-react to one result. Seeing a team do well in a game and drawing conclusions will commonly find you on the wrong side in the next game.
