Bad Teams 02/06/2011(more...)

~BAD TEAMS~
A 3-2 Saturday has us in a profitable position for the week as we head into the last day of week #6 in the 2011 sporting year.

Bottom feeders as they are often called ,Minnesota,Toronto, Cleveland for example come to mind in the NBA this year. Remember when you are doing your handicapping believe it or not these teams are actually worse than they really are. Yes I said worse. How often do you see the good teams race out to a lead and play their bench the rest of the way. How serious how much game planning do you think goes in to preparing to play these teams. Not much you are right.

So remember box scores, tickers can be very misleading it may look like Toronto hung tough with Boston the reality is much different. Do not fall into that trap. There is no substitute for watching the games. You have computers, PVR’s multiple screens, split screens you name it there are no excuses for not scouting all the teams. Than watch your handicapping dramatically improve.

When betting basketball totals it is critical to determine what flow the game will have. Is it push run and gun or will it be slow methodical grind it out. Some factors to look at. The point guards. They are the quarterbacks in basketball. They set the pace. Stats wise you want to look at attempts per game, offensive and defensive field goal percentages.

Generally speaking the more tired a team is the lower their point total. Tired legs equals bad shots. The more important, the more intense the game is expected to be the lower the scoring total is going to be.

So look for 2 teams that traveled the night before who are now going to play each other in a pivotal game. However it is not enough to have just played the night before but what kind of game was it. Was it close did the stars play 40 minutes plus. If it was a blow out for or against you have to down grade this factor since the night before was not as taxing.

Remember the public likes to bet overs so the majority of the time the value is going to be on the under.

More on these topics in future weeks.
