Change is the only constant 02/19/12 (more...)

During the course of a long season often teams will go through a major change.
This could come in the form of how the team plays or from personnel changes. The point is the markets are usually slow to react and struggle to catch up. This will give you a window of time where you will be able to find value in a play on or a play against mode of a particular team.
Events that cause these situations to arise include:
Coaching change, a major trade, injuries either someone going on the DL or coming off the DL, a QB change, shake up of the starting roster.
Two current prime examples to bring home the points above can be found in the NBA this year. PHX was a pure over team with their run and gun offense. An aging Steve Nash and coaching change has slowed their game down dramatically. In Toronto with Casey now in charge the defense which ranked last a year ago has shown dramatic improvement. In the NHL Chicago a pre-season favorite to challenge for the cup; injuries and weak goaltending have them as a mediocre team for most of the year.
My point is every year in every sport you will be able to find teams based on inaccurate forecasts reputation vs. reality where there will be value either under or over hence creating betting opportunities.
