Increasing Your Unit 12/16/12 (more...)

A few weeks back when we discussed having too much money I said I would come back and talk about how to effectively increase your unit.
Remember a unit is 2% of your bankroll. Your bankroll is the unencumbered amount of money you have allocated to this business. It is not money you need for essentials such as food or housing. Your unit is the amount you RISK on each play not the amount you can win. Flat betting risking the same amount on each game in my opinion is the only way to long term success in this business.
There are 2 ways to increase your unit in this business. The first is from profits. Every time your bankroll increases by 50% increase your unit accordingly. In fact it is essential to do so in order to further develop and grow your business. For example if your bankroll starts at $5,000 your initial unit is $100. When your bankroll from profits reaches $7,500 feel free to move your unit to 7,500 X 2%=150 unit. However do not raise your unit all at once from 100 to 150. Take a more conservative approach and do what I call stair stepping your unit to the 150 not to distort your short term results. Increase your unit $10 per week regardless of results until you reach the 150 and then stop. Repeat this process again each time your bankroll increases by 50%. I do not recommend increasing your unit if your bankroll has increased less than 50%.
The second way to increase your unit is if you have and decide to invest more money into your unencumbered bankroll. Regardless of what your bankroll moves to your unit remains at 2% of that bankroll and again remember to stair step to your new unit so as not to make all your previous results irrelevant.
Patience, discipline, money management all key factors to success in this business or for that matter any business.
