Awareness of scheduling is important in all sports but especially the NFL. The brutal physical nature of the sport makes it impossible for teams to effectively compete every week. Look for teams coming off a bye especially later in the year. Coaches have more time to prepare and players have more time to recuperate. Look for good teams that have a big rivalry game on tap next week while they have to face a team in the current week that offers very little motivation. That team may win but rarely cover. Look for teams in both the pros and college who have played 8-10 weeks straight without a bye who maybe running out of gas.
Look for what is called “sandwich “games. A team plays a conference game the week prior has another one in the next week and this week has an opponent that does very little to inspire them or that they know much about.
Look for good teams that WILL bounce back off a bad performance in their last matchup. The public puts way too much emphasis on the last week’s results. How many times have you seen a team play awful 1 week only to look unbeatable the next week and vice versa?
When taking a road underdog in the NFL you want a veteran QB who can handle the adversity that is bound to happen in enemy territory.
