We have been rather streaky the last few weeks which is not the norm. On Saturday Feb 12 we went 4-0. We moved that mini run to 9-3. On Saturday Feb 19 we went 0-5. We added 4 more losses to that ugliness having lost 9 in a row as of the end of Friday. So our record moved to a 9-12. Yesterday saw us go 3-2 to put our current record heading in to Sunday at 12-14. Nothing to be excited about however we are well over 55% since November 2010 and that is something to be very excited about. Consistency!
So why do I mention all of the above in detail. You must be prepared mentally and monetarily for the swings that are guaranteed to take place in this business over the course of a year. No one likes losing streaks and I take it as hard as anybody. However I have been at this for over 20 years and unlike most people I can rely on my experience.
I do not panic I do not force plays, I do not chase losses I stay composed, work hard and I KNOW based on my track record it will turn around. No second guessing no making wholesale changes, stay the course, stay confident and ride out the bad run.
Based on our substantial historical record we will have a 3-7% ROI by the end of the year regardless of the twists and turns that take place during the year.
That is the mental part what about monetarily. Your bankroll must be able to survive losing streaks of 12,15 even 18 net negative games. No matter how good you think you are these streaks are going to happen. If someone tells you any
differently run the other way because they are lying. Do not fluctuate your unit,always flat bet and NEVER NEVER RISK more than 2% on any game and your bankroll will be able to withstand any losing streak. Why is this so important ? You have to be around for the law of averages to kick in. We will have over 1,000 decisions in a given year. A losing streak of 10 or 15 whatever will have such a minimal impact on the year as a whole as long as you practice proper money management procedures.
Spring training games have begun. AHH that was so nice to see on TV yesterday. Opening day is 4 weeks away. Yes there are lines on the spring games. No we do not bet them.
