Talk is Cheap or is it ? 04/20/14 (more...)

When someone tells you they are very good at something it probably takes you less than a minute of listening to figure whether they are boasting, bragging, egotistical exaggerating call it what you want or even just plain lying. We all come across these people all the time. Experts on every topic or endeavor. It is probably even more pronounced in sports betting industry where touts scam artists are shouting from every social media platform possible to state how great they are. The old adage applies still today it is the quiet ones you have to pay attention to watch out for.
It reminds me of the time at the Gamblers Book store in Vegas; Lem Banker was there one of the greatest sports bettors ever. He was cornered by a patron talking his ear off about how much he knew about sports betting. Here was a chance for a sports bettor to pick the brain of a great sports bettor and all he did was talk nonstop.
My point being no one knows it all in any business especially this one. I am always learning adapting over 25+ years into this. What I do know if someone tells you over the long term they hit over 55% of their plays you can completely tune them out because the rest of what they have to say is irrelevant. Another dead giveaway is when they start talking about varying the size of their bets from play to play or using a progressive betting system. Both money management techniques do accomplish something; getting you to bankruptcy quickly.
The good news; if you can hit 55% of your plays long term or find someone you trust that can follow them religiously adhere to proper money management techniques you will be in the top 1% earners in the world of the business provided you have a large enough bankroll.
Next week we will talk about the types of handicappers there are.
