Shocking news most casual bettors do not make a profit from sports betting. This is not a terrible thing. If every bettor won there would be no sports books left they would be out of business. However as we know the sports book just acts as a broker. The good news and why sports betting is so advantageous you are not competing against the sports books anyway you are competing against other sports bettors. The sports book simply takes the money from the losing bettors passes it on to the winning bettors and keeps their cut.

William Hill is moving into the Nevada desert after receiving the green light from the Nevada Gaming Commission.
William Hill is the biggest book in Britain. They are the first UK book approved to run a betting service in Nevada and can offer mobile betting to clients inside the state. It also positions William Hill to capitalize quickly WHEN the U.S. gaming laws are revised.

The close of the baseball menu today will bring us to the all-star break. Monday July 9 up to and including Thursday July 12 there will be no games no plays and no email alerts. I will be back with you on Friday July 13.
These are the ONLY 4 days I get off all year. So I suggest you as well refresh catch your breath enjoy the break and get ready as we creep closer to the start of our busy fall season.

To say that we have had a successful start to the 2012 betting year would be a huge understatement. The close of business today will mark the half-way point of our year. We presently sit at a WHOPPING 13.025% return on investment (ROI). Now keep in mind a few words of caution. Over 20+ years of doing this my ROI on a yearly basis will generally fall between 3-7%. Even with that range if you are shopping effectively you are making serious money. The highest ROI I have ever been able to achieve for 1 year which took place in 2009 was 11.472%.

The best sports bettors are information junkies. Researchers who know how to separate the important information from the 90% irrelevant junk that is available in the information age. Know what to look for and find the value between the line you set on the game vs. the sports books line. Have a finely developed analytical ability and a skill to evaluate risk vs. reward. These above mentioned skills are readily adaptable to all aspects of your life.

1)Sports teams IQ is always underrated. Focus on teams that know how to win that know how to close out games in difficult hostile environments and situations. Back the smarter players with the smarter coaching staffs that know how to implement and execute a game plan.
2)Shop until you drop. Every penny on the money line every half point on the spread is extremely important to your bottom line. Timing the market to get the optimum price and having enough outs at many sports books to get the best price possible is sometimes the difference between a winning and losing season.

Any line you set is a combination of art and science. An opening baseball line from the book perspective we know is made from at least 70% starting pitching. So yes obviously you do have to do your work in this area. However that is not going to find you major weaknesses in the line. The odds maker has already incorporated this work into his line.
Here are the areas I concentrate on:
Award 25-35 cents to the home team. Batting last is a big advantage.
